In The Monitor Ben Rosen shares his opinion about PBS and NPR becoming privatized in order to build a wall in between Mexico and the United Sates. Many wouldn't think of this as a huge set back but a number of parents and one particular seven year old, Toby Smith, see this as a discriminatory move.
It's remarkable that Arkansas's town hall meeting did not get the opinion of a parent but of a seven year old boy. Toby was so moved by PBS Kids he stood in front of a large crowd just to protest his passion for this T.V. station.
The claim is that T.V. and radio no longer contribute to informative news because there are so many sources in this millennial century but PBS supporters beg to differ and believe programs like PBS and NPR still provide suitable new coverage that is beneficial.
I personally grew up watching PBS and still watch it now for informative documentaries. I think this argument could seem trivial but to those who have all grown up with PBS and NPR have some connection to the knowledge these stations have provided to the masses over the decades. Let's not build walls, let's educate and grow.
