U.S. national government

U.S National government was formed in 1789 based on the principles of federalism and republicanism. Powers were given to both the state and federal government. The state government has the power to ratify amendments, manage public health and safety, oversee trade within the state, and power over education. The federal government has the power to coin money, declare war, conduct foreign relations, and oversee foreign and interstate trade. They both share the power to make and enforce laws, tax, and borrow money. Now the federal government is organized into three branches; executive, legislative, and judicial. All of the state governments are modeled after this structure. All of the power in this three branch structure is granted by the Constitution. Each branch is broken down with different power. The executive power is appointed to the President. The congress is the legislative branch and consists of the senate and the house of representatives. The judiciary applies and explicate laws.
